My friend has wanted me to do a cake for her potluck tea time with a simple design.. means no cherries, no choc chips.. so I have replaced cherries with blueberries.. and it looks so simple, but very elegant and yet so tasteful, pleasing to the eyes...

Baking Cupcakes After Nearly Two Years






After having some modifications, I have got two versions of these cupcakes...

It's been such a long time that I haven't bake cupcakes. I didn't know why I've stopped baking them, maybe because there was this incident ...... Well, I 've guessed I was sad and thus, I've concentrated only on baking cakes- big cakes which produce wonderful results and made me happy again.

So, today, I've baked them, cupcakes again- Black Bottom Cheese Cupcakes, with good results but I think as any recipes, we need to modify a little bit- here and there, yes we need to do countless chemistry experiments...through trial and error. Most of the recipes have used a lot of sugar, but I think, with less sugar, and with a little bit of liquid, they would be all right. What we should remember is, with cheese, the less we eat, the better it would be. Therefore, these cupcakes should not be consumed in a go- take it slowly, bite by bite... then, we could be in perfect indulgence. Welcome to the world of Cheese....

Another twist, another taste

Scones or biscuits- yet to be decided...

My chocolate chip sugar buns were sold out.. that I've thought that it would be best to bake another batch and bring them again to work place. So, yesterday morning, I've decided to bake another batch of these sugar buns. Unfortunately or even fortunately, I've mistakenly put baking soda instead of baking powder, and I end up putting cream or tartar just to rectify my mistake, and adding lemon zest. This time I've put milk- guess what I've got- liquidy batter..

Well, just hoping it would turn well. And my results were these pictures above- more or less like biscuits versus scones. I've liked them too just like the first batch.. It's true that baking makes me happy and satisfied. I've never been so happy for all this time- that I think I should start taking out my baking bowl and start exciting baking projects.. It's been such a long time that I haven't bake my cupcakes. Yes, I will start my inventions again.. finding the ever delicious cupcakes....

Love Means Baking







People would say "Love" Is "Affection". I would say love is baking, when I am down and miserable and things are not okay- I bake. But these few months since last year- I was not an active baker.. I had had so many things to settle, so many miseries and sad matters that baking was put on hold. But now I think that I should bake again, because baking has always make me happy and glad. So, for the year 2010- I have "Sugar Buns" - it's a cross between buns and biscuits. When it comes straight from the oven, it' so crunchy and chewy but very soft inside- like eating a bun. Well, I have put lots of chocolate chips and I think I would do it again and again.. That is why "love" means "baking"...Enough said

Why Do I Like Choffles





Choffles... has been around for years. Their service is no doubt one of the best around. These pictures speak for themselves. The cake was for the cake-cutting ceremony for my brother's wedding last year. Mind you, it was such a surprise hit for everybody. Yeah, when I got married few years back, I did not have such the privilege to have a cake-cutting ceremony. Well, firstly because it was such a hassle, secondly because being a bride- I was the one who was managing things and thirdly, honestly- cake cutting ceremony costed money. Lots of it. So, a cake -cutting ceremony was not in my agenda of wedding anyway.. phew! But things are different when you plan for someone else's wedding. You'll give your best shots. You"ll include any missing agendas in your wedding for someone else. Or maybe because you have learnt so many things from your own wedding...
However, to put it straightly- if given a chance I would love to have a wedding cake from Choffles for my own wedding few years ago (only if I've got to know Choffles). Choffles have inspired me with beautiful things a wedding should have. That is why I love Choffles for their cakes. Thanks Choffles for the beautiful cakes and creations (even if it's not my own wedding, though). Thank you once again !

I'm baking again after a year


The Red Velvet Cake

I'm back, back again after almost a year of absence from blogging.... Things were not that good, that I've almost lost my mood on baking. But now, I hoped that the red velvet cake was a mark for my coming back-my medicine for my sorrows.. There is a little story behind this red velvet cake. I have baked it for the request of a friend for a festive season, then posted the picture on FB, and finally it came to the possession of a good old school friend . I've transported it to Malacca. Then, what really happened next was the repeat order for this particular cake. I have never ever imagine that this cake was such a big hit. I bake cakes with my own passion, I really want other people to feel and love cakes, and I am not doing short cuts in terms of ingredients. Simply because I have been frustrated with so many not so tasty-expensive cakes, people charging exorbitant prices. Well, I am not a part time baker, I am just someone who loves tasty and delicious cakes, I bake cakes for love. And I know cakes love me too, they would never let me down, ever..... May cakes rule our heart, may love heal our pain....
